Dear [grandfather],
[Name] showed us your email to her. I'm happy to hear you're still out there with the chainsaw! Sitting out in the wetlands sounds nice. I try to do the same here - my roommates and I put a couch on our porch, so it's a fantastic place to sit silently and drink my coffee. I think of it as practice for being old.
The campus fox had babies in the spring. They were tiny and rambunctious, but it's getting cold out and they're probably all grown up. Now when I see a fox leisurely crossing the street with dinner in its mouth, I never know if it's mama or baby.

There are a lot of changes ahead. I don't know what's going to happen once I graduate, but the next presidential administration (curses upon them all) is likely going to make environmental work very difficult. But I'm staying positive. I choose to believe that the world will be ok long after we're all gone. My food co-op has kept housebooks going as far back as 19?? (a very long time ago for me, maybe not as much for you). I'm going to put happy pictures and entries in this year's book so future students know we were all doing ok despite everything.
Sending love and good health,
